help!
I am weeding through all of the registry stuff and all of the furniture stuff... I know I baby-sat all the time, but it has been years and I am not sure of just exactly what features are helpful and what are "I CAN'T live without". For starters... Cribs. Do I need a side down crib... REMEMBER, I'm short. Or do the mattress heights cover what I would need? What features and items are must haves for new moms? I've been told twice the Baby Wise books have been great... so from there I look forward to help! Jodi

Here are my 2 cents on "must haves"...
1. Carseat
2. Stroller
3. Crib (side down is nice, but I don't really use it that often.)
4. Changing table (one that's not too tall)
5. Swing (get used if you can - you'll save a bundle. But the swing is a GREAT place to put baby so you can make dinner, etc.)
6. Glider/Rocker if you're planning on nursing.
7. Booster Seat / Highchair (I personally recommend a booster seat with tray since it straps to a chair and is portable. That's what we use and we love it. Plus it doesn't take up extra space in the dining room/kitchen.)
Things that are nice, but not MUST have. Register for them anyway and hope you get them. =)
1. A few bigger ticket toys (play center, activity gym, etc.)
2. Nursery decor items (even if you don't buy these exact ones, it at least gives people an idea for what colors you're planning for the nursery and what you like.)
3. Supplemental feeding items like bottles, a breast pump, etc. If you're planning on formula feeding, the bottles, a sterilizer, and a bottle brush are must-have. A bottle warmer is nice.
4. Wipes warmer. I actually put this on my MUST HAVE list. I don't use regular wipes, but instead use regular washclothes (the cheapies from Walmart). I just get them wet (no soap or anything) and store them in the wipes warmer. They work great, are cheap, and don't irritate baby skin. =)
5. Bouncy seat. We put Ellie in this all the time when she was little. I'd put her in it so I could shower and still keep an eye on her.
6. Clothes. People will buy you clothes whether you register for them or not, so just register for a few things to give people an idea of what you'd like. Onesies, pants, footie sleepers, etc. are always a good idea.
7. You WILL get blankets, and probably lots of them. You will need a couple receiving blankets and a few blankets for the floor, and a couple to throw over the baby when you go outside, etc. I got WAAAY more blankets than I needed but didn't know that until it was too late to return some of them. (Like... I got 14 receiving blankets...)
8. A blanket or cover that goes in the baby carrier is really nice, especially for fall and winter weather.
9. Books to read to baby
